Perhaps the biggest realization I’ve had thus far as a parent on the paths of both Yoga & Motherhood is that, to raise children the way I aspire to, I must first focus on my own Spiritual practice. Because, before I can guide, I have to transform.
Today is the day! The day when things finally started getting easier. How do I know? It’s the first time I went out with both my kids (aged 29 months and 5 months old) and someone remarked how gracefully I did it. Until now, women would randomly walk up to me and say, "it's going to get easier, I promise you." And today it did. Here’s how I used my Yoga to help get me through the newborn phase while also raising a toddler.
If we hold our children too close to us because of our own insecurities and fears, we may end up harming them by preventing them from developing the skills they need to thrive in this life, and the resiliency and confidence that one absolutely needs in order to bounce back from inevitable hurts and failures.
